Sailing Key West
If you haven’t been to Key West before, you’re in for a surprise. Not only does the city of Key West have an amazing array of activities to choose from, but the surrounding cruising grounds have so much to offer as well. The best sailing destinations in the Florida Keys are located in close proximity to Key West. Not only are there white sand beaches and pristine coral reefs, it is home to the most remote National Park in the country; Dry Tortugas National Park. There you’ll find one of the largest historical forts in the United States; Fort Jefferson, as well as a light house, campground and even the resident crocodile, “Cletus”.
Nothing is better than diving off the swim platform into turquoise blue water as fish and turtles swim about below. The fishing is unreal and we can always find time to cast a line after class. We want to give you the best education possible, while having the experience oflifetime.
All of our boats are top of the line and the accommodations are impeccable. This is the perfect time to bring the family together for an unforgettable experience.
Take your cruising further with an unforgettable sail to Cuba. Not only will you learn all the fundamentals of sailing, but you’ll be able to put them to use on a true ocean passage. Havana lies 92 nautical miles south of Key West and has become a gem for cruising sailors around the world.
ASA courses to Cuba begin in the colorful island city of Key West. Training begins immediately, upon one of our spectacular, modern cruising vessels. Not only will you learn the fundamental skills (ASA 101,103,104) to become the sailor you’ve always dreamed of, but you’ll have the time of your life doing it. Together we will put your training to the test with a true offshore passage. By breaking up our time on deck with a watch schedule, you’ll be rested and well fed as we make landfall on the largest island in the Caribbean.
Cuba, a land frozen in time, is rich in culture and history and pulses to the rhythm of Salsa and Reggaeton. Together, we will tour Old Havana, coffee and tobacco plantations, swim in mountain rivers, and enjoy Cuba’s bustling nightlife. Don’t forget to pick up some Cuban cigars and rum for your friends back home!
Once our time is up, we’ll get ready to sail back to Key West. Not only will you be a seasoned sailor when you return, you’ll have experienced another way of life in a world so different from our own. These are the experiences that make sailing special. It’s the people you meet and the sunrises at sea, that you will remember for the rest of your life.
