    • SPSC will make every effort to place you in another class but cannot guarantee instructor or course availability. We strongly recommend attending your originally scheduled class, as classes fill quickly, and our season is short.

Cancellations by SPSC

  • Weather or Instructor Illness:

    • In rare cases, SPSC may partially or fully cancel a class due to weather conditions deemed unsafe or detrimental to the curriculum (e.g., strong winds, heavy fog, torrential rain) or the unforeseen illness of an instructor with no backup available.

    • In such cases, rescheduling will be offered at no additional cost.

    • Refunds for canceled portions of the course will be provided to those unable to reschedule.

  • Weather Determinations:

    • SPSC and its instructors determine weather-related decisions, which are typically made hour by hour during your course.

    • Be prepared to sail in a variety of weather conditions, as long as it is safe and conducive to teaching. (Ensure you have proper foul-weather gear if rain is expected.)

Course Adjustments Due to Weather or Situations

  • Classes will proceed as much as conditions permit.

  • Refunds or rescheduling will depend on the extent to which the course was impacted.

  • SPSC aims to provide solutions that maintain our high standards of customer satisfaction.

-Outside of 90 days: You can  change your dates for no additional fee. Should you need to cancel, 25% (half of deposit) is refundable. The cost of the textbook(s) will be held in addition, unless returned in New/unused condition.

-Inside 90 days: Deposit (50%) becomes non-refundable

-Inside 30 days: remaining balance (100%) of course due / becomes non refundable. Rescheduling will incur a $150 rebooking fee per seat.

-Deposit is not transferable to future seasons.

-SPSC will do everything to place you in another class, but can not guarantee instructor or course availability. It is strongly advised to make every effort to attend your original booking, as classes fill up quickly and our season is quite short.

-In the rare event of a partial or full cancellation on the part of SPSC due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather deemed not safe or detrimental to course curriculum (Strong winds, heavy fog, torrential rain, etc),  or the unforeseen illness of an instructor where no backup is available, rescheduling will be offered at no additional cost.

-Refunds of portions cancelled will be made available to those who can not reschedule.

-Please Note: it is SPSC and its instructors that make weather calls. These are typically made hour to hour on each day of your course. Be prepared to sail in a range of weather conditions. As a general rule, if it is a safe and teachable environment, we will be sailing. (Be sure to have good foul weather gear if rain is expected).

-As much of your course will still be held as the weather/situation permits. Refunds and rescheduling will be based on how much of the course was affected by the underlying situation. It is SPSC's goal to provide agreeable solutions that achieve our high customer satisfaction standards.
