American Sailing 103/104 COMBO LIVEABOARD COURSE — with optional ASA 101 add-on
LOCATION: Key West, Florida
DURATION: 4 Day Liveaboard Course. Ideal for sailors who already hold their ASA 101 certification (or equivalent experience) and are ready to move into coastal cruising and bareboat chartering.
Already have your 101? Need it first? No problem — we can add a full day of ASA 101 instruction onto the front of this course for an additional $400 per person. It's a great way to knock out your foundational certification before diving into 103/104, without having to book a separate class.

WHAT: This liveaboard course combines the curriculums for ASA 103 - BASIC COASTAL CRUISING and ASA 104 - BAREBOAT CRUISING into one efficient, 4-day, hands-on experience. You'll cover cruising sailboat systems, docking, anchoring, coastal and offshore navigation, weather interpretation, provisioning, watchkeeping, and everything else required to confidently skipper a bareboat charter. It's a great way to learn without losing momentum, with real cost savings over taking 103 and 104 separately — perfect for fast learners, students with some prior sailing experience, or anyone who has already put in time studying the theory and is ready to put it into practice on the water.
If you'd like to start from the beginning, we can tack on a day of ASA 101 instruction beforehand, so you leave with your Basic Keelboat certification as well as your 103 and 104.
Your Classroom Afloat: This course runs aboard our Sigma 36 "Aurora," a 36 ft cruising monohull that offers the perfect balance of manageability and comfort for multi-day, liveaboard instruction. She's agile and responsive on the water, with a warm teak interior below that makes for a comfortable home base between sails. Take a look at her on our Fleet page.
WHAT'S INCLUDED: Lodging aboard the Sigma 36 Aurora and meals while on board.

ASA 105/106 — COASTAL NAVIGATION & ADVANCED COASTAL CRUISING ADD-ON
LOCATION: Key West, Florida
PRICE: $2,800 per person
WHAT: Already earned your Bareboat Cruising certification with us? It's time to take the wheel through the night. ASA 105 sharpens your coastal and offshore navigation — chart work, electronic and celestial piloting, and weather routing that holds up once the coastline disappears. ASA 106 pushes further, putting those skills to the test on an extended overnight passage, where you'll stand watch, navigate in the dark, and manage the boat through a full sailing day and night at sea.
This isn't a day sail with a certification attached — it's real offshore-style seamanship: watchkeeping schedules, night navigation, fatigue management, and the decision-making that comes with keeping a boat moving safely long after the sun goes down. If you're ready to move beyond coastal cruising and start building the kind of sea time that longer passages and offshore chartering demand, this is where that begins.
